CJSI-VA — Entry Level Training


Classes are open to anyone. SCOP classes are available to anyone but registration as a Special Conservator of the Peace is only through participating agencies. Advance registration and payment is required at the time student enrollment is verified. Classes without sufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation without notice. There are no refunds but classes may be switched with proper prior notice (a nominal fee may apply). If the minimum enrollment is not met, classes MAY be held if the client(s) wishes to pay the rate for the published minimum. Each client will be prorated based on the number of students they have enrolled in the class. Weather and other factors may force the cancellation of some or all of a class session. Make up classes will be scheduled. Students must attend all class sessions in order to be certified. Private instruction is available (Basic - $30/hour; Intermediate - $40/hour; Advanced - $50/hour). Contact the school for further details. Any course may be taken as one-on-one sessions for $40 per class hour when given at least seven days notice. Please call for details.

Unarmed Security Officer Core Entry 01E

An "Unarmed security officer" means a natural person who performs the function of observation, detection, reporting, or notification of appropriate authorities or designated agents regardingpersons or property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who does not carry or have access to a firearm in the performance of his duties.

Registration:  To register in the state of Virginia as an Unarmed Security Officer you must meet the  Virginia Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS) guidelines, satisfactorily complete the following course(s) 01e  with a grade of 70% or greater and complete the appropriate DCJS  forms which will be explained during the administration.

Private Investigator 02E

A "Private investigator" means any natural person who engages in the business of, or accepts employment to make, investigations to obtain information on (i) crimes or civil wrongs; (ii) the location, disposition, or recovery of stolen property; (iii) the cause of accidents, fires, damages, or injuries to persons or to property; or (iv) evidence to be used before any court, board, officer, or investigative committee.

Registration:  To register in the state of Virginia as an Private Investigator  you must meet the  Virginia Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS) guidelines, satisfactorily complete the following course(s) with a grade of 70% or greater and complete the appropriate DCJS  forms which will be explained during the administration section of Instruction.   

Armed Security Officer Arrest Authority 05E

An "Armed security officer" means a natural person employed to (i) safeguard and protect persons and property or (ii) deter theft, loss, or concealment of any tangible or intangible personal property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who carries or has access to a firearm in the performance of his duties.

Registration:  To register in the state of Virginia as an Armed Security Officer you must meet the  Virginia Department of Criminal Justice (DCJS) guidelines, satisfactorily complete the following course(s) 01E, 05E and 07E/(08E is optional but recommended)  with a grade of 70% or better and complete the appropriate DCJS  forms which will be explained during the administration section. 

Special Conservator Of The Peace 06E

A "Unarmed special conservator of the peace" means a special conservator of the peace registrant who does not carry or have immediate access to a firearm in the performance of his duties. "Special conservator of the peace" means any individual appointed by the circuit court pursuant to § 19.2-13 of the Code of Virginia on or after September 15, 2004, to perform only those powers, functions, duties and responsibilities authorized within such geographic limitations as the court may deem appropriate. "Special conservator of the peace registrant" means any ndividual who has met the requirements under this regulation to apply for appointment to the circuit court as a special conservator of the peace.

This course requires a handgun of .380 caliber or greater, a holster, and 90 rounds of ammunition. If you need to rent a weapon please notify us at the time of registration. You must qualify with the same caliber of weapon that you will carry on the job.

Bail Bondsman 40E

A"Bail bondsman" means any person who is licensed by the Department who engages in the business of bail bonding and is thereby authorized to conduct business in all courts of the Commonwealth.
